Tribute to the Pride of Maharashtrians- Balasaheb Thackeray

Blogpost 9:

Balasaheb Keshav Thackeray,The king of Maharashtra, Divine iconic image flashes in front of us. A poignant Writer,Orater, Political Leader. He is and will always remain  inspiration for young Indians. Born on 23 Jan 1926, in Pune Maharashtra, being born to Keshav Sitaran Thackeray alias Prabodhankar (his father) ,Bal thackeray has inherited  the same sense of love to his land.

Thackeray started his career as a Cartoonist, in Free Press Journal in 1950,he published his thoughts on social and national affairs through his work. He started publishing his first marathi cartoon weekly titled Marmik in 1960 inaugurated by Yashwantrao Chavan. Marmik voiced the issues faced by the Marathi community, various discriminations faced by them, social and political issues.

He dint merely stop here,Thackeray went ahead and formed Shiv Sena (Shiva's Army) a political organisation in 19 June 1966. He intended to raise his voice for his community much beyond his work, and the formation of Shiv Sena was his platform. His keen observation and assertive nature made him realize that though Maharashtra is rich in wealth, sources, most of the people were unemployed, devoid of basic neccesities. He fought for these people,he spread awareness among Maharshtra about this. Since then there was no looking back,People of various trade, rich or poor, young or old, each and everyone supported him.

The early motive of the Shiv Sena was to ensure job security for Maharashtrians competing against immigrants from southern India, Gujaratis and Marwaris.
Shiv Sena launched newspaper Samna in 1989.
Shiv sena won the 1995 Maharshtra state assembly election and took upon the power.
He has envisioned better provisions for his people, and he has succeeded in many. He is the one behind the change of Bombay to Mumbai, His love for Mumbai manoos can never be forgotten.

He has been admitted to Lilavati hospital on 25 july 2012 due to his deteriorating health. Thackeray died on 17 November 2012 at "Matoshree"his residence due to cardiac arrest.

Many leader come and go, but few mark their footprints in history. And Balasaheb Thackeray is one among them. He was not only a poltical leader but a true warrior who fought for the rights of his community.
He is the one who taught us The key to successful leadership today is influence, not authority.

May his soul Rest In Peace
